Earth, Fire, Air, Water – they are more than you dream.
As an air Elemental, 17-year-old Emily Morgan doesn't have much power. That's okay--she knows what happens to kids who do.
Like Michael Merrick. He's an earth Elemental, one with enough power to level cities. Which makes him sexy, dangerous, and completely off limits. At least according to Emily's family.
But her summer job puts her in close contact with Michael, and neither of them can help the attraction they feel. When forces of nature like theirs collide, one misstep could get someone killed. Because Emily's family doesn't just want her to stay away from him.
They want him dead.

Elemental eBook Brigid Kemmerer
This is the prequel to the Elemental series. Elemental features Michael the oldest of the Merrick Brothers, as adolescent, years before the event set in Storm. We discover an adolescent afraid and angry with the universe that set him apart. He already wants to protect his family and he is feeling guilty to put them in danger when he just wanted to be normal. He is also a bit rebellious, and confronts his parents when they punish him instead of the culprits... in that sense he is a lot like how Gabriel will be in the future. While trying to keep a low profile, he is controlling his energy by playing baseball, alone in front of the machine yes but with the same dedication as a professional player. However, one day, he discovers Emily, his nemesis' sister, at the cashier and fates starts. First, the young woman is afraid, since the beginning she always heard how the Merrick were dangerous, how Michael hurt her brother....however when she sees the reaction of her family when she tells them she met him. Doubts are planted. Slowly, both adolescents will confide in each others, learn about each other while in or around the practise cage and see that the truth is not necessary what they thought.
If you have read Storm before reading Elemental, you get to see Michael under a new light and you understand him better. You also know how the story of Emily will finish because Elemental doesn't tell the complete story it's not really a cliffhanger but the ending is supposedly know and not what is the most important. I wouldn't recommend reading this before Storm even if it's the prequel of the story because you will be missing too much. In storm you get this story from Chris `point of view, so he doesn't develop the feeling of both Emily and Michael. When you read this after Storm you see how much Michael was vulnerable, how guilty he feels when it was just a tragedy.
I really took pleasure in reading this prequel and to see Michael younger made me appreciate him more. Before I understood a bit the relationship between Michael and Gabriel but I didn't get why the older brother didn't explain himself, why he suffered the insults and fights without replying and this novella explain everything. So a must read for the fan of the series

Elemental eBook Brigid Kemmerer Reviews
Emily is dying to get away from her hometown and parents. Her plans include moving to New York where she can work on Broadway but the only way she will get there is by making some money. After getting the job at the sports complex it’s clear that no one else wanted the job. It’s been dead at work so Emily is listening to her Broadway musicals when Michael Merrick shows up with a bat over his shoulders. After hearing he jumped her brother last week and beat him up pretty bad Emily is nervous but all he wants are tokens she questions everything she heard about him. Emily knows that Michael is a pure elemental which makes him more powerful than the rest of them so they see them as a threat. When he returns again even though her father tells her to stay away she can’t help it. Emily questions maybe he’s not the bad guy after all.
I’ve been wanting to start this series for a while just haven’t gotten around to it and when Bingo asked for a novella I figured it was time. The concept that people have powers they get from the elementals is really unique and exciting. I found the whole story captivating from start to finish it’s fast paced filled with raw emotions, action and a little bit of romance all rolled together to create fantastic start to an exciting series. I really enjoyed this little installment it’s a perfect teaser all the encouragement I need to read the rest of the series. With the paranormal twists I think this would be a book teens as well as adults will enjoy.
This should have been a freebie. A way for this author to gain an audience, it is not worth 1.99. This is such a short read (I knew that going in that its only 50 pages). But the arch of the short story is really fast paced. Micheal falls for Emily way too quickly and vice versa that it's not authentic. This really should have been a full length novel, there was enough material there to have made a really good plot. Even more so with the ending that literally cuts off mid chase. But it all felt too rushed and underdeveloped. Which is disappointing cause I really like the premise of the story as well as Micheal and Emily for the main protagonists.
This is a prologue to next books, which news flash to anyone who reads the next book. There's a five year skip. And nothing gets explained to the end of that book. So be prepared to be really confused throughout half of Storm.
When I read this, then read the novella, it confused the heck out of me. I was like wait.. It didn't explain some things. For instance, one book, the parents are ok, next book they're been dead for a while. WHAT?
But otherwise, I liked this series. The only thing I didn't like is that it's so unpredictable. The main characters are not even safe from being killed. I feel sad when a major character or someone in the story dies and they won't ever return again. But then again, it's more realistic than everyone having their perfectly happily ever afters.
Although, I really liked Kate and I was disappointed that a tough female figure was killed off. The rest of the girls are more of girls who stays on the sideline while the boys fight. I don't like that. But all of them are likable. You wanted to see all of them happy and safe.
It's a decent series, with one book containing a M/M story thrown in. Can't go wrong with this one.
